These systems are developed to reduce operator involvement and product handling requirements, with the objective to reduce total system floor space requirements, work-in-process inventories to yield optimal and predictable metallurgical properties.

The flow and handling of product to and from the heat treatment cell is an integral part of the overall heat treatment process. With this understanding, CAN-ENG produces reliable and rugged material handling solutions to ensure automated solutions have the highest possible up time. Our material handling solutions are integrated into customer’s existing process flow and work in conjunction with Level II automation systems.

The Benefits of Automation and Material Handling

  • These systems can range from standard commercially available robots fitted with custom engineered end-of-arm-tooling, to customized hard automation solutions and large capacity product handling manipulators with capacities of handling up to 11,000 lbs (5000 kgs) of product
  • Systems typically are used to transport individual products from one step of a heat treat process to the next. For example, transferring a load or an individual part from austenitizing to an oil quench or Precision Air Quench (PAQ™) system, providing single part flow and individual part heat treatment
  • A wide variety of material handling solutions and configurations can be integrated into CAN-ENG furnace systems
